Privacy Policy
How we handle information on whitprogram.org.
Effective date: October 23, 2026.
The WHIT Program, Inc. (“WHIT,” “we,” “us”) operates whitprogram.org. We provide free tutoring to children in foster care, so we take privacy, and especially the privacy of children, seriously. This policy explains what information this website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
You may choose to send us information when you:
- Apply to tutor. The tutor application is provided by EmailMeForm, a third-party form service. It asks for contact details and information needed to consider your application. Approved volunteers later complete a background check, fingerprint screening and training through separate processes we explain directly.
- Email or call us. When you contact us at [email protected], a staff email address or (530) 521-5439, we receive whatever you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number and message.
- Refer a student. Referrals come from Child Protective Services, judges and CASA volunteers, who contact our Director of Operations directly. Please do not put a child’s confidential case information in a general email to [email protected]; we will tell you how to share referral details securely.
- Donate. Online donations are processed by PayPal. We do not see or store your full card or bank details. PayPal shares with us the information needed to record and acknowledge your gift, such as your name, email address and the amount.
How we use information
We use the information you provide to respond to you, review tutor applications, match volunteers with students, acknowledge and record donations, send receipts, keep you informed about WHIT if you ask us to, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults: foster parents, caseworkers, volunteers, donors and partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13, and nothing on this site asks a child to submit information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this website, contact us and we will delete it.
We do not publish names, photographs or other identifying information about the children we serve. Photographs of children on this website are licensed stock images of models unless a caption says otherwise. Testimonials refer to students by initials or first name only, with permission.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our web host may record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit. We use this only to keep the site secure and working. This website does not use advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics on it.

Some pages include content from other companies. These services have their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies when you use them:

How we protect information
We limit access to personal information to staff and volunteers who need it to run the program, and we train tutors in confidentiality. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not email highly sensitive information.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, for program records, and as required by law, including records related to donations and volunteer screening.
Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can ask to stop receiving emails from us at any time. Contact us using the details below.
